I had a little time to burn before turning in, so I decided to check out the nearby store/visitor's center to see what time they opened.
I saw a small crowd. When one sees a crowd on the Blue Ridge Parkway, it usually means there's some wildlife. This crowd was car-bound, tossing goodies like Bugles and bread to a friendly deer while generally being ignored by two other deer.
Figuring I'd wait for my turn, I stood outside my car taking pictures. Finally, everyone else cleared and I got out some Town House Crackers. The deer, who I named Lola, came to me easily. I decided to try what nobody else had: to hand feed. It wound up being easy.
Love the salty widdle tongue...
Tomorrow: more wildlife up close, but not this close!

That is so cute I nearly cried!
What a beautiful deer!
Um, sorry to be a spoil sport, but you really shouldn't feed wild animals...
I see deer all the time. They like to hang out on the sides of roads and scare me half to death. My dad almost dies because one of them rammed his car a few years ago.
