No April Fools

It's for sure, ex is in the first Middle Eastern leg of his tour now. He called this afternoon. Said they keep doing the same, boring slide shows. I figure if they waste his time on their time, they're still the ones to pay.

I am sorry J wasn't home yet from school. Ex has miscalculated the time difference, so he was disappointed. He may try to call in the morning before school.

Now his mother just called. His mother and step father came up to take care of ex's wife and daughter. For ex to accuse me of being sickly and an albatross around his neck, his mother has come up at least one a year for the last six years to take care of ex's wife. (ExMIL helped me once for surgery and once for childbirth in 17 years.) They are constantly sick or needing surgery or something. Wonder if he stoops to accusing her of being an albatross? (Okay, this albatross label is a real sore spot to me.)

Anyway, her albatrossness has gotten in the way of J's 'hard fought for by them' visitation to their house a few times. She cancelled last Wednesday and I suspected the same for this week, except ex's mother and step father are in town. I just cross my fingers each time that J doesn't bring the crud du jour back home and infect him or me. So far, so good. We don't get sick. We don't make people drive three states to help us out, either.

I really don't feel as snotty today as this sounds. Went to a luncheon today; had a good time. Went to the grocery store and bought their incredible roasted chicken salad.

Because I got in the (bad) habit of it on the cruise, I bought wine, too. On board, the Robert Mondavi Cab Sav was something like $56 and, with an 18% gratuity, it was actually something like $75. I was good and had only one glass a day. At the grocery store, it is $12.99 and I'm sure a wine outlet would have it cheaper. Man, is that stuff palatable. Now, I'm less good and may have two glasses per day. Is it too early to start?

It's never, EVER too early for a glass of wine.

You made me thirsty! I guess I'll have to go crack open a bottle.

Nothing wrong with wine during the day. Europeans have been doing that for centuries. Their children are practically raised on the stuff. Enjoy, be a snot!!

I agree with Becky. NEVER too early for a nice glass of wine. I'm drinking a Merlot by Barefoot right now and it is YUMMY! I had some of their Cabernet Sauvignon when I went to my gramma's this past Sunday and adore it. It's like $7 a bottle at Wal*Fart. (I'm usually surprised by the wine selection there. And for cheap, too!)

I hope ex can get a call in before J goes to school in the morning. I remember how important it was for Matt to talk to the boy while he was gone and he was only in basic and AIT. Granted, the boy was only 2 at the time, but he remembers talking to his dad while he was there. He has a FREAKISH memory. He tells me about things that happened when he was just about 1 year old ALL.THE.TIME. o_O

best wishes to your family and especially J who I'm sure is missing his daddy.

Oh, I love their Coastal Select Pinot Noir. That and a good goat cheese or a gruyere? Mmmmm....
