Camping, hiking, sliding, and eating

We set up Friday afternoon. I was quite proud about how (accidentally) coordinated we were.

Note Mom's Special Lemonade, a necessity each evening.

We did a hike Saturday morning. Went about 4.5 miles in 3 hours, not exactly record-breaking pace, but the path was less than optimal.

This fauna was so beautiful together.

I'd never seen a tree so hollow.

A more optimal section of the path.
This twisted bridge scared J to death.

Another hollowed tree along the path.

Followed by a nap, then another foray into the pool, totaling seven hours in two days. J was addicted to the slides, which meant I didn't have to get in the pool very much.

Each evening we ate the same things cooked on the grill:

Ribeye or New York Strip

Corn on the cob cooked in the coals

Sauteed mushrooms and onions

S'mores.

Yum.
(PS: Note the blog entry precedes the unpacking of the car. Priorities, people.)

Yummy, smores! To me, that's the only good thing about camping, I'm such a wimp about not having electricity.

I even used dark chocolate on mine. J got milk chocolate. He has such will power, used all his on s'mores. Me, I ate almost half of it, so had fewer s'mores. Consider it saving calories overall, I think.

Heh. I'd say screw the marshmallows and graham crackers...just gimme the chocolate! Without the campfire, bugs and sleeping on the ground stuff, preferably.

I really don't like camping much. Ever since Bob and I went to Bonn.aroo before I got pg with Boog. 3 days of camping in Wood.stock-like conditions...that was enough for me for a lifetime. The music was really awesome, but that's about all I could say for that experience.

It looks like you guys had fun, though. And...as usual...such beautiful pictures. Almost makes me want to go out and commune with nature...almost, but not quite. ;-)

It looks like you guys had a blast!

I haven't been camping since I was a kid. The boy goes with his grandparents every year, though. I'm just not built for the outdoors. (Read: Bugs frek me out)
